Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first film in which Manoj Kumar and Dilip Kumar acted together. Born Harikishan Giri Goswami, Manoj Kumar had taken his screen name from a character his idol Dilip Kumar had played in the film "Shabnam" (1949). "Kranti" (1981), produced and directed by Manoj Kumar, was the only other film in which the two actors worked together.[1][2]
  • This was a remake of the hit Tamil film "Aalayamani" (1962) which was also remade in Telugu as "Gudi Gantalu" (1964).

    Song

  • Kaisi Haseen Aaj Bahaaron Ki Raat Hai - This song was originally recorded by Talat Mahmood and Mohammed Rafi. According to some accounts, Manoj Kumar got Talat Mahmood's voice replaced with Mahendra Kapoor's voice in the film. This was the only time Rafi and Mahendra Kapoor sang together for a duet. However, according to Mahendra Kapoor's son Ruhan, his father was brought in since there was a consensus that Talat's voice did not suit the song. Mahendra Kapoor apparently sought Talat's permission to sing the song and the senior singer graciously acquiesced.[3][MR3]
