Trivia

    Album

  • It was alleged that the similarly themed film "Inquilaab" (1984) was passed by the Censor Board ahead of this film due to Amitabh Bachchan's influence over the government of the day. "Inquilaab" (1984) managed to get released earlier than this film despite the fact that the Censor Board had ordered several cuts in it.[1][2]
  • This film was director Dasari Narayana Rao's remake of his own Telugu film "MLA Yedukondalu" (1983).
  • This film was launched and its audio records issued with a title different from the title with which it was released. It was reported that the producers had decided to add "Ram Avtar" to the film's initial title to cash in on the success of the film "Avtaar" (1983), which like this film had Rajesh Khanna and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles.[3]

    Song

  • Chalo Calcutta - The tune of this song was adapted from the 1983 synth-pop hit "Maniac" by Michael Simbello. "Maniac" was used in the Hollywood film "Flashdance" (1983).[4]
  • Chalo Calcutta - This was singer Alisha Chinai's debut Hindi film song.
