Trivia

    Album

  • Director Hrishikesh Mukherjee dedicated the film to B.N. Sircar, the founder of the New Theatres film production company, and to filmmaker V. Shantaram. Mukherjee had started his film career in the 1940s as a cinematographer and editor in the Calcutta-based New Theatres.
  • Ashok Kumar made a return to playback singing with five songs to his credit in this film. He had started his career in the 1930s as a singer-actor but had restricted himself to acting after playback singing became prevalent in the late 1940s.
  • Actor Harindranath Chattopadhyay debuted as a playback singer and lyricist in this film.

    Song

  • Saaf Karo Insaaf Karo - This was Hemlata's debut as a playback singer.[MR8]
  • Rail Gaadi Rail Gaadi Chhuk Chhuk - This song is widely, albeit inaccurately, described as the first rap song in Hindi films.
  • Jhir Jhir Barse Sawani Ankhiyan - Vasant Desai used the twin-track recording technique in this song. The technique was aptly used since the situation called for the heroine, Sumita Sanyal, to play a song on a gramophone player and sing along with it.
  • Jhir Jhir Barse Sawani Ankhiyan - This Vasant Desai song used two different tunes for its two antaras. The tune of the second antara in this song may have been Vasant Desai's basis for the antara of one of his most popular songs - "Bole Re Papihara" ("Guddi", 1971).[1][MR10]
