Trivia

    Album

  • This film was an adaptation of John Woo's "A Better Tomorrow" (1986). "A Better Tomorrow" (1986) itself was inspired by the Hong Kong film "The Brothers" (1979) which in turn was a remake of the Hindi film "Deewaar" (1975).[1]
  • This was Sanjay Gupta's directorial debut.
  • The title credits of this film used the music of Vangelis' "Conquest of Paradise" theme from the soundtrack of Ridley Scott's film "1492: Conquest of Paradise" (1992).[2]

    Song

  • Ya Dilruba Ya Dilruba (Ya Mustafa Ya Mustafa) - The tune of this song was adapted from the song "Ya Mustafa", which was composed by the Egyptian musician Mohammed Fawzi and popularized by the French version recorded by Bob Azzam in 1960. It appears that the original lyrics of this song included the words "Ya Mustafa" as well but they were changed due to objections raised by some Muslim groups. The same tune was also used by Ravi in the song "Kya Teri Mehfil Hai Sanam" ("China Town", 1962) and by R.D. Burman in "Dekhta Hoon Koi Ladki Hasin" ("Sanam Teri Kasam", 1982).[3][4][5][6]
