This film was Hrishikesh Mukherjee's remake of his own film "Mem Didi" (1961), which in turn was inspired by Frank Capra's "Lady for a Day" (1933). Capra himself remade the 1933 film as "Pocketful of Miracles" (1961). The role of Shera played by Jayant in "Mem Didi" (1961) was played by his son Amjad Khan in this film.[1]
This was the first film signed by actress Anita Raj but it was delayed and was released two years after her debut film "Prem Geet" (1981).[2][3]
The producer of this film, Deepak Parashar, was the elder brother of the Hindi film director Pankaj Parashar. He is often confused with the actor with the same name.
