Album

• This film was an adaptation of the 1990 film of the same title. It featured Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt in the roles that were played by Amitabh Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa in the original. The script of this film deviated from the original in many respects. The characters played by Mithun Chakraborty and Madhavi in the original did not appear in this film. The film also added some new characters, including those played by Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. The film was dedicated to the memory of Mukul S. Anand, the director of the 1990 film. While the film credited its story to the 1990 film, it didn't explicitly credit its writer, Santosh K. Saroj.[1]
• While the film's music was released in December 2011, the film itself was released in January 2012.
• This was Karan Malhotra's directorial debut. He had previously worked as an assistant director to Karan Johar. The idea for this film was conceived during the making of Karan Johar's "My Name Is Khan" (2010), in which Malhotra was an assistant director.

Song

• Chikni Chameli - Ajay - Atul reused the composition of their Marathi film song "Kombadi Palali" ("Jatra", 2006) for this song.[2]
• Chikni Chameli - This song featured actress Katrina Kaif in a cameo appearance.
• O Saiyyan - The producer, Karan Johar, and music directors, Ajay - Atul, were sued by Nagpur-based, Aditya Salankar, for the copyright infringement of his song "Teri Meri Kahaani Adhoori". The court had allowed the release of the film with a shortened version of this song.[3]
