Trivia

    Album

  • This was N. Chandra's directorial debut. He also co-produced the film. Financing the film was not easy - he apparently had to sell many of his personal belongings, including his house, to put together the 12 lakh rupees the film was made with. Despite a relatively unknown cast, the film became a big hit and resulted in N. Chandra getting film offers from many big-name producers like Manmohan Desai and A. Purnachandra Rao.[1]
  • N. Chandra had started his career with Gulzar and was greatly inspired by his film "Mere Apne" (1971). In fact, the lead character in this film was modelled on the character played by Vinod Khanna in "Mere Apne" (1971). Chandra had written this character with actor Ravindra Mahajani in mind. However, he had not been able to afford him at the time and had signed Nana Patekar instead for only Rs. 10000.[2]
  • This film was remade in Tamil as "Kavithai Paada Neramillai" (1987) and in Kannada as "Ravana Rajya" (1987).
  • This was actor Nana Patekar's first significant role in Hindi films.

    Song

  • Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Daata - According to N. Chandra, the popularity of this song was a big factor in the film's success.[3]
