Trivia

    Album

  • The film was a dramatised account of the true events surrounding the end of Mohammed Azharuddin's cricketing career. Azharuddin was the captain of the Indian cricket team in 2000 when allegations of match-fixing surfaced against him. The Board of Control for Cricket found him guilty of these charges after conducting an inquiry and handed him a lifetime ban. In 2012, the Andhra Pradesh High Court revoked the ban and termed it illegal. However, the stigma of the match-fixing charges stuck, and Azhar remained a pariah in the cricketing world. This film was seen as an attempt to makeover Azhar's image. The cricketer consulted for the film and promoted it aggressively. While its subject was evident, the film avoided legal trouble by providing disclaimers stating that it had nothing to do with Mohammed Azharuddin. Additionally, only the first names of the film's characters matched their real-life counterparts. It was reported that Ravi Shastri and Manoj Prabhakar, Azhar's former teammates, and Sangeeta Bijlani, his second wife, were unhappy about their portrayal in the film.[1][2][3]
  • Pritam was signed initially to compose the film's music. However, Pritam was unable to meet his commitments after he was hospitalised for three weeks due to a health issue. Amaal Malik was then brought in to take over from Pritam.[4]
  • The role played by Nargis Fakhri was first offered to Urwa Hocane. Hocane had declined the role because of the "bold scenes" she would have had to play.[5]

    Song

  • Oye Oye (Gazar Ne Kiya Hai Ishara) - This was a cover version of a song from the film "Tridev" (1989). The original song was composed by Kalyanji - Anandji, written by Anand Bakshi, and sung by Sapna Mukherjee, Sadhna Sargam, and Alka Yagnik. While the original song was filmed on Sangeeta Bijlani, the recreated version was filmed on Nargis Fakhri who played Sangeeta Bijlani's character in this film.[6]
  • Patta Patta Jaanta Hai Ik Tu Hi Na Jaane Haal Mera - The hook line of this song was inspired by a couplet written by the 18th-century poet Mir Taqi Mir - "Patta patta boota boota haal hamara jaane hai / Jaane na jaane gul hi na jaane baagh to saara jaane hai". The Hindi film song "Patta Patta Boota Boota" ("Ek Nazar", 1972) was based on the same ghazal.[7][8]
