Trivia

    Album

  • The plots of two films released in quick succession in 2017 - this film and "Indu Sarkar" (2017) - were set in the Emergency years. While this film featured a villain modelled on Sanjay Gandhi played by Priyanshu Chatterjee, "Indu Sarkar" (2017) featured Neil Nitin Mukesh in a similar role.[1]
  • Diljit Dosanjh was supposed to play the second lead in this film. When he backed out, Emraan Hashmi was brought in to replace him.[2]

    Song

  • Mere Rashke Qamar - This was a remixed version of a ghazal-qawwali written by Fana Buland Shehri and composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It was first performed in 1988 by Khan. The song became popular after he and his nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan performed it in concerts. A cover version in Tulsi Kumar's voice was also recorded for the film.[3]
  • Socha Hai (Keh Doon Tumhen) - This was a recreated version of the popular Hindi film song "Keh Doon Tumhen" ("Deewaar", 1975) composed by R.D. Burman, sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle, and written by Sahir Ludhianvi. Two versions of this song were recorded for the film. T-Series had taken the remix rights for the song from Universal Music. However, Trimurti Films, the producer of "Deewaar" (1975), took T-Series to court for copyright infringement. They claimed that they had granted only the mechanical rights to Universal Music which only allowed the label to publish and sell physical records for the film's music. The court ruled in the favour of Trimurti Films, and T-Series was forced to remove the recreated songs from the film and its music album. Trimurti Film's Rajiv Rai said that he had filed the lawsuit for all the producers of the Hindi film industry. He said that he was disturbed by the rising trend of recreated songs being recorded without adequate permissions.[4][5]
