Trivia

    Album

  • While travelling on a BEST bus, Balraj Sahni, the writer of this 1951 film, came across a conductor regaling passengers with his witticisms. Sahni found out that the young conductor's name was Badruddin Jamaluddin Qazi and invited him to audition with the director Guru Dutt for the role of a comic drunk. Badruddin was so convincing in the audition that Guru Dutt offered him the role on the spot and gave him his screen name - Johny Walker - after the famous Scotch whisky brand.[MR12]
  • This was Guru Dutt's first film as producer and director. Dev Anand played the lead role in this film fulfilling a promise he and Guru Dutt had made to each other in the beginning of their career. They had gotten to know each other when they had worked together in the film "Hum Ek Hain" (1946).[1]

    Song

  • Tadbeer Se Bigdi Hui Taqdeer Bana Le - Sahir Ludhianivi had written this song as a ghazal and was shocked when S.D. Burman composed it as a light, playful song with Western influences.[MR3]
