Trivia

    Album

  • This film was inspired by a number of Hollywood action thrillers including "Die Hard" (1988).
  • This was the first time Aamir Khan played the role of a police officer. It was also his first film with director Ashutosh Gowariker. This film was a flop but paved the path for two future Aamir Khan hits - "Sarfarosh" (1999) in which he played a cop again, and Ashutosh Gowariker's "Lagaan"(2001). Incidentally, Aamir and Gowariker had begun their careers together as actors in the film "Holi" (1984).[1][2][3]

    Song

  • Dheere Dheere Aap Mere - This song was an adaptation of the popular ghazal "Rafta Rafta Woh Meri" composed by music director Nashad for the Pakistani film "Zeenat" (1975). Interestingly, Tasneem Fazli's lyrics for "Rafta Rafta" were adapted from a song written by Qamar Jalalabadi for the Hindi film "Hum Kahan Ja Rahe Hain" (1966). Basant Prakash's music for the original, however, was different from Nashad's.[4][5][6]
  • Jaane Mujhe Kya Hua - This song was adapted from Beethoven's "Fur Elise".[7]
  • Dole Dole Dil Dole - This song was adapted from Bobby Darin's theme for the Hollywood film "Come September" (1961). Another song released that year, "Nazren Mili Dil Dhadka" ("Raja", 1995) by Nadeem - Shravan, was also based on the same theme. This theme was used in many other Hindi films - for the songs "Aaja Mere Humzuban Main Dhoondhoon Yahan Tu Hai Kahan" ("Rocket Tarzan", 1963), "Pyar Ki Aag Mein Tan Badan Jal Gaya" ("Ziddi", 1964) and "Pukarta Chala Hoon Main" ("Mere Sanam", 1965) and in the background score of several films including "Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaye" (1963), "Woh Kaun Thi" (1964) and "Hamraaz" (1967).[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]
