  • The film's shooting stalled in April 2018 when its cast and crew were locked out of their hotel. The hotel confiscated their belongings and did not allow them to enter the premises after producer KriArj Entertainment failed to make payments. T-Series then stepped in to settle the dues before shooting could be resumed. KriArj exited the project later.[1]
  • Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment filed a case against the makers of the film and asked for a stay on its release. They claimed that Prernaa Arora's KriArj Entertainment had sold them the all-India distribution rights for this film and "Fanney Khan" (2018). Pooja Entertainment also issued a public notice asking distributors and theatre owners to not release the two films without their permission. T-Series rejected Pooja Entertainment's claims and said that KriArj did not have the legal standing to assign the film's distribution rights to anyone without their agreement. They asked Pooja Entertainment to submit to them their agreement with KriArj but did not get any response for it. T-Series then filed a countersuit against Pooja Entertainment for interfering with the release of the two films. The Delhi High Court took cognisance of the matter and asked Pooja Entertainment to not make any claims on the films till the outstanding lawsuits were closed. After a protracted legal battle, Pooja Entertainment's claims on the two films were dismissed. Vashu Bhagnani had locked horns with Prernaa Arora previously over "Pad Man" (2017). KriArj Entertainment also had a run-in with director Abhishek Kapoor over "Kedarnath" (2018) and with John Abraham over "Parmanu" (2018). Bhagnani continued to pursue a case of cheating against Arora after this. She was arrested but was released on bail when she promised to pay off her debts. A few months after she was granted bail, the Bombay High Court convicted her of "aggravated" contempt of court and sentenced her to jail for 6 months.[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
  • When writer Vipul K. Rawal found out that he had not been credited in the film's teaser, he filed a complaint of copyright infringement with the Film Writers' Association against director Shree Narayan Singh and writers Siddharth - Garima. Rawal claimed that he had written a story titled "Roshni" in 2009 and registered its final draft with the association in 2016. He had entered into an agreement with KriArj Entertainment to develop the story into a film. However, director Shree Narayan Singh had wanted some changes in the story and hired Siddharth - Garima for it. Rawal also sent a legal notice to the filmmakers. Based on his complaint, Rawal was given a "Based On 'Roshni' Written By" credit in the trailer and an "Original Story Concept" credit in the film.[12][13]

  • Kya Se Kya Ho Gaye Dekhte Dekhte - 1 - The tune and lyrics of the song's hook line were taken from "Sochta Hoon Ke Woh Kitne Masoom The", a qawwali originally composed, written and performed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Two versions of this song were recorded.[14]
