Trivia

    Album

  • This was director Srijit Mukherji's first Hindi film. It was a remake of his own Bengali film "Rajkahini" (2015) starring Rituparna Sengupta. Mukherji was in Mumbai for the subtitling of "Rajkahini" (2015) when Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt asked him to remake the film in Hindi.[1]
  • The film was dedicated to writers Ismat Chughtai and Saadat Hasan Manto. Director Srijit Mukherji said in an interview that he was inspired to tell the film's story after reading stories about the Partition by the two writers. The film's titular character was named after the protagonist of Ismat Chughtai's celebrated short story "Lihaaf".[2]

    Song

  • Murshida - The song was not part of the film's initial music release. It was released separately as a single.
  • Woh Subah Hamin Se Aayegi - This was Anu Malik's recreation of a song from the film "Phir Subha Hogi" (1958), composed by Khayyam, written by Sahir Ludhianvi, and sung by Mukesh and Asha Bhosle. This version had modified lyrics by Kausar Munir.[3]
  • Woh Subah Hamin Se Aayegi - The song was not part of the film's initial music release. While the rest of the songs were released by Junglee Music, this song was released separately as a single by Saregama.
