Trivia

    Album

  • The makers of this film took elaborate measures to protect the identity of the villain of the film, played by Prem Chopra. Chopra's character communicated with the film's hero, played by Amitabh Bachchan, through phone for most of the film and his lines were dubbed by Kader Khan, who also wrote the film's dialogues. Prem Chopra and Kader Khan were not credited for their acting roles. The film ended with a message to the audience - "Please don't reveal The End".
  • Kader Khan, who had taken civil engineering classes at the M.H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering in Bombay before joining films, was credited with the title "Prof." for the dialogues of this film.
  • The plot of this film was inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock thriller "The Man Who Knew Too Much " (1956). It was later remade in Kannada as "Thirugu Baana" (1983) starring Ambareesh.
  • The name of Amitabh Bachchan's character in this film - Amit Shrivastava - was inspired by his real name. Shrivastava was Bachchan's family name before his father Harivansh Rai gave up the Shrivastava surname as a symbolic rejection of the caste system.
  • The Glaxo company and its Glaxose-D brand pulled off a marketing coup through this film. The film's hero, played by Amitabh Bachchan, was shown as a marketing executive working with the company. The company and brand were prominently mentioned in the film, including in one sequence in which an almost 20-second Glaxose-D advertisement was shown.
  • This was the first film produced by Ranjit Virk, the brother-in-law of actor Dharmendra.
  • This was actor Sharat Saxena's first released Hindi film. He was supposed to be launched in the film "Zahreelee" (1977) which got delayed by a few years.[1]

    Song

  • Main Benaam Ho Gaya (Yaara O Yaara) - Narendra Chanchal not only sang this song but also appeared on-screen in the film singing it. In the Kannada remake of this film, "Thirugu Baana" (1983), singer S.P. Balasubramaniam appeared on the screen singing "Ide Naadu" for the same song situation.[2]
