Trivia

    Album

  • This was Krishnan - Panju's remake of their Tamil film "Kula Deivam" (1956). The Tamil film itself was based on the Bengali novel "Bijila" by Prabhavati Devi Saraswati. The Bengali film "Bhangagara" (1954) and the Kannada film "Jenu Goodu" (1963) were also adaptations of the same novel. Actress Pandari Bai played the same character, Shanta, in the Tamil, Hindi and Kannada versions of the film.

    Song

  • Chal Ud Ja Re Panchhi - I - This song was issued in two parts in the film's music records. The first antara of the first part was used in the opening credits and the second antara was used for a song sequence in the film. The second part was used in its entirety in another song sequence.
  • Nautanki Laila Majnu (Hai Bahot Dinon Ki Baat) - The song featured the lines "Laila Laila pukaroon main ban mein / Mori Laila basi morey man mein" filmed on Om Prakash. The lyrics of these lines, and possibly their tune, may have owed their origin to a song from the Hindi film "Laila Majnu" (1931). It's possible that the lyrics and tune have older antecedents. They were also used in the Hindi film songs "Medley Song" ("Mr. Sampat", 1952), "Majnu Majnu Pukaroon Main Ban Mein" ("Resham", 1952), "Aata Hai Yaad Mujhko Guzra Hua Zamana" ("Shri Naqad Narayan", 1955), "Nautanki Laila Majnu" ("Bhabhi", 1957), and "Main Pagal Hoon" ("Girl Friend", 1960), and "Yaar Kapada Shaandar Hai" ("Painter Babu", 1983). The mukhda of the song "Raat Bhar Ka Hai Mehman Andhera" ("Sone Ki Chidiya", 1958) also had a similar tune.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
