Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on a book by the same name written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The book was based an account of the real-life events and people involved in the 1993 Bombay Blasts.
  • This was the first full-fledged film album by the band Indian Ocean.
  • This was filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's only film as an actor. He played the role of Yakub Memon in the film.
  • After being shown in various film festivals in 2004, this film was supposed to be released in India in 2005. One of the accused of the 1993 Bombay Blast case, on which this film was based, had obtained a court order to stall the release of this film till the verdict of the case was pronounced. Finally, on the completion of this trial in 2006, this film was released in 2007.[1]
  • A lawyer named Shahid Azmi represented the petitioners who sought to stay the film till the 1993 Bombay Blast trial was completed. Director Anurag Kashyap went on to produce the film "Shahid" (2013) which was based on the life and work of this lawyer.[2][3]
