Trivia

    Album

  • Raj Kapoor had planned to make this film without any songs. In fact the entire film was originally shot with no song sequences. However, the failure of his previous film "Aah" (1953) forced him to reconsider this decision. Shankar - Jaikishan were brought in and song sequences were shot and added to the film at the last moment.[1][MR6]
  • This was a rare film score by Shankar - Jaikishan that did not have any song sung by Lata Mangeshkar. Lata apparently refused to sing for this film because she did not like the lyrics of its songs.[MR7]
  • According to the Hindi Film Geet Kosh, this film was certified on December 12, 1953. The Film India magazine listed its date of release as February 12, 1954.[MR1]

    Song

  • Thahar Zara O Jaane Wale - Shankar - Jaikishan had used the tune and lyrics of the mukhda of this song previously as a background theme in the film "Awara" (1951).[2]
  • Chali Kaun Se Desh Gujariya - Lyricist Shailendra not only wrote this song but also appeared on-screen as the character singing it.
