• This film was adapted from Om Prakash Sharma's novel "Dhadkanen". He also co-wrote the film's dialogues. The idea for a film based on the novel came from the Meerut-based film financier Satyen Pal Chaudhary. Director Basu Chatterjee liked the idea after reading the book. The makers of the film asked Sharma to visit Mumbai to discuss the adaptation but the writer refused. Chatterjee and Chaudhary then visited him at his home in Meerut and discussed the project. Sharma then not only provided the rights to his novel but also agreed to collaborate on the film's dialogues.[1][2]
