Trivia

    Song

  • Nir Ta Ta Dhang - This was R.D. Burman's adaptation of an ashtapadi composed and written by Bindadin Maharaj. Born in 1830, Bindadin Maharaj is considered one of the most prominent, early exponents of the Kathak dance form. He founded the Lucknow Gharana of kathak. The records for the film's music wrongly credited Gopi Krishna for the song's lyrics.
  • O Ganga Maiya Paar Laga De - The jury for the Sur Singar Samsad Awards had originally decided to confer R.D. Burman the Best Classical Film Song award for this song. Some last-minute politicking, however, led to the jury giving the award to Ravi instead for "Sawan Ki Raat Kaari Kaari" ("Mehrban", 1967).[1][MR4]
