Trivia

    Album

  • This film, produced and directed by K.A. Abbas, was based on a novel of the same title written by him.
  • This was the only film in which brothers Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor acted together.
  • K.A. Abbas took Shammi Kapoor to court when the latter refused to shoot a song sequence for the film. The film's failure at the box office further disillusioned him and he vowed to stay away from big-budget films with stars in the future.[1]
  • Mahendra Kapoor, who had debuted earlier with two songs in "Mudmast" (1953), bagged two songs in this film as a result of winning the Metro Murphy singing competition held in 1957. Each of the five judges of the competition - Anil Biswas, Naushad, C. Ramchandra, Vasant Desai, and Madan Mohan - had promised to record a Hindi film song with him as a reward for his win. While Anil Biswas gave him two songs in this film, he recorded one song in "Ek Shola" (1958) for Madan Mohan, a song in "Sohni Mahiwal" (1958) for Naushad, four songs in "Navrang" (1959) for C. Ramchandra, and a song in "Do Behnen" (1959) for Vasant Desai. Among all these opportunities, it was his work in "Navrang" (1959) that catapulted him to fame.[2][3][4][5][6]

    Song

  • Stella O Stella Tera Johnny Tha Ab Tak Akela - The song was recorded for this film but was not used in it. Anil Biswas ended up re-using it in the film "Return Of Mr. Superman" (1960).[7][8]
