Trivia

    Album

  • This was actor Ravi Baswani's debut Hindi film.
  • This film was remade by David Dhawan in 2013 with the same title. According to Dhawan, his film was a tribute to actor Ravi Baswani who passed away in 2010. The writer and director of the original film, Sai Paranjpye, wasn't happy about the remake. Interestingly, a digitally remastered version of this film was re-released by PVR Cinemas on the same date the remake was released.[1][2]
  • This film started as a 50-minute teleplay called "Dhuan Dhuan" for Doordarshan. The original title was indicative of the importance of the smoking habit of the film's three male leads in the plot of the film. Sai Paranjpye pitched the idea of making the teleplay into a film to producer Gul Anand at a film festival in Moscow. Gul Anand liked the idea but asked for a change in the film's title.[3]
  • This was the first film in which Farooque Shaikh and Deepti Naval were paired together. Their work together was appreciated a lot and they went on to be paired in several films together including "Saath Saath" (1982) and "Katha" (1983).[4][5]

    Song

  • Kaali Ghodi Dwar Khadi - The "kaali ghodi" (black mare) in this song was a metaphor for the motorcycle Farooque Shaikh's character rode in the film.
