Trivia

    Album

  • This was a remake of the Bengali film "Agni Pariksha" (1954) based on Ashapurna Devi's novel of the same title. Pronab Roy was given credit for the remake's "story line up". The Bengali film was also remade in a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film. The Tamil film was titled "Manjal Mahimai" (1959) and the Telugu film was titled "Mangalya Balam" (1959).
  • This was the first Hindi film of the Bengali film star Uttam Kumar. He also produced the film. His role in the film was a reprisal of the role he had played in "Agni Pariksha" (1954), the Bengali film of which this film was a remake. It took Kumar another eight years to work in a Hindi film again. His next Hindi film after this was "Amanush" (1975).[1]
  • Actress Yogita Bali debuted as a child artist in this film. She played the younger version of Vyjayanthimala's character and was credited as Pinkie. Her first film in an adult role was "Parwana" (1971).[2]
