Trivia

    Album

  • This film was Rajkumar Santoshi's tribute to the legendary Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa. It was heavily inspired by Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" (1954).
  • This was the debut film of actors Samir Soni and Mukesh Tiwari.
  • Producer, director Rajkumar Santoshi had removed actress Mamta Kulkarni from this film because he was not happy with the way her role was developing. The film's hit song, "Chhamma Chhamma", that was supposed to be shot on Mamta was instead shot on Urmila Matondkar, who appeared in the film for just this song. Mamta was very unhappy about her exit and had accused Santoshi of sexually harassing her on the sets of the film. She even approached the Cine Artists' Association demanding a compensation of Rs. 1 crore from Santoshi. It was rumoured that Santoshi took her back in the film after receiving a threatening call from the underworld don Chhota Rajan. The incident marked Mamta's downfall in the film industry and ended her career as an actress in a matter of years.[1][2]

    Song

  • Chhamma Chhamma Baaje Re Meri Paijaniya - I - This song was sampled for the song "Hindi Sad Diamonds" in the English language film "Moulin Rouge" (2001) directed by Baz Luhrmann.[3][4]
  • Chhamma Chhamma Baaje Re Meri Paijaniya - I - This song was recreated by Tanishk Bagchi for the film "Fraud Saiyaan" (2019).[5]
