Trivia

    Album

  • This film was based on Upendranath Ganguly's Bengali novel "Chhadobeshi". The novel had been previously adapted for the hit Bengali film "Chhadmabeshi" (1971) starring Uttam Kumar. The Kannada film "Joke Falls" (2004) used a similar storyline as well.
  • Jaya Bhaduri was pregnant during the making of this film.
  • Dharmendra's entry in the climax of this film shows him adjusting his trousers. This was Hrishikesh Mukherjee's way of teaching him a lesson for reporting late for the shoot. The director had asked Dharmendra to go to the bathroom, and come out pulling his pants up for this scene![1]
  • This was one of the three films released in 1975 in which Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri were paired together. The other two films were "Mili" (1975) and "Sholay" (1975). Their next film together was "Silsila" (1981).[2][3][4]

    Song

  • Sa Re Ga Ma (Geet Pehle Bana Tha) - R.D. Burman may have adapted the accordion solo in this song for the prominent accordion solo in "Chhoti Si Kahaani Se" ("Ijaazat", 1986).[5]
  • Sa Re Ga Ma (Geet Pehle Bana Tha) - Three antaras were recorded for this song and were part of the film's original audio release. According to Dharmendra, Hrishikesh Mukherjee removed the second antara from the song in a huff when he reported late for the shoot. Thus, the film, as well as its subsequent audio releases, had the truncated version of the song with just two antaras.[6]
  • Chupke Chupke Chal Ri Purvaiya - Some scenes in this film, including the ones shot for this song, were shot in producer N.C. Sippy's bungalow at the time. The bungalow went on to become the home of the actors on whom the song was filmed - Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri. Amitabh Bachchan bought the house from N.C. Sippy in the early 1980s. It has been reported that Bachchan's fee for the Sippys' film "Satte Pe Satta" (1982) was adjusted against the price of the house. It is this house that was later named Jalsa and where Amitabh Bachchan started giving an audience to his fans every Sunday at 6 pm.[7][8]
