Trivia

    Album

  • This film was a biopic of the gangster turned politician, Arun Gawli. It was in the making for three years. The film's idea was conceived when director Ashim Ahluwalia and actor Arjun Rampal were thinking about making a film about another don and were approached by writers who had a script for a film about Gawli. Ahluwalia and Rampal didn't like the script. They considered it unrealistic since the writers had not consulted the Gawli family for it. Rampal, however, was fascinated by Gawli's story and decided to turn writer and producer to tell it. He co-wrote the film with Ahluwalia. Rampal sought the permission of Arun Gawli and his family and also consulted with them. Gawli was serving a life sentence for the murder of the Shiv Sena leader Kamlakar Jamsandekar at the time the film was being made. Rampal met him when he came out on parole and "got his blessings". Gawli also watched the film and gave his feedback on it. Based on the request of his family, the film's release was postponed from July 2017 to September 2017. Gawli was expected to get parole in September and his family wanted to time the film's release with it. The film was titled after a nickname Gawli's associates used for him.[1][2][3]
  • Farhan Akhtar's role in the film was not publicised. He played a character called Maqsood, modelled after the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.[4]
  • This was the debut Hindi film of the South Indian actress Aishwarya Rajesh.

    Song

  • Zindagi Meri Dance Dance - This was a remixed version of a song from the film "Dance Dance" (1987). It was produced by a Norwegian DJ named Olefonken.[5]
