• This was the first film Prakash Jha had started work on. However, he had difficulty in getting it financed. He eventually debuted with the film "Hip Hip Hurray" (1984). The success of his debut film allowed him to produce this film on his own.[1]
• This was Prakash Jha's second consecutive film with Deepti Naval. He had gotten close to her during the making of the film "Hip Hip Hurray" (1984) and had married her the same year. However, their marriage lasted only a few years. The couple were separated in 1987 and got divorced in 1990.[2][3]
• This film was based on the short story "Kaalsootra" by Shaiwal.
• This was a songless film.
