Trivia

    Album

  • Shreya Ghoshal made her singing debut in this film.
  • Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and composer Ismail Darbar had a fallout during this film, and never worked together again.
  • This film was based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel by the same name.
  • Madhuri Dixit took a break from films after this film. Her next film was "Aaja Nachle" (2007), but it flopped, and she took another long break after it. She was seen in films again six years later, in a cameo in "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" (2013).[1][2]
  • This was lyricist Nusrat Badr's first Hindi film.
  • When Sanjay Leela Bhansali approached Madhuri Dixit for this film, she told him that she was getting married and asked him if he still wanted her. Having been unsuccessful in getting Madhuri for his previous two films, "Khamoshi - The Musical" (1996) and "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" (1999), Bhansali had no hesitation in saying yes the third time.[3][4][5]
