- This film was in the making for several years. It underwent a few changes in its cast during this period. Some of its songs were recorded long before the film's release. These included "Dulhe Ka Sehra" sung by Nurat Fateh Ali Khan who died in 1997.
- Shilpa Shetty revealed in the TV show "Super Dancer", aired in 2019, that Sunil Shetty's character was supposed to die in the film's climax. However, the producers did not want the film to end in a tragedy and Dharmesh Darshan had to change the climax for a happy ending.
- Director Dharmesh Darshan considered dropping out of this film since he was very busy with "Mela" (2000) but was convinced by the producers to stay on and complete it.[1][2]

- Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se - This song was plagiarised from "Ahebak Leh" by the Saudi Arabian singer Abdul Majeed Abdullah.[3]
- Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein Rahte Ho (Duet) - Nadeem - Shravan had used the tune of this song's mukhda earlier for the background theme music that was used in the famous kissing scene of the film "Raja Hindustani" (1996).[4][5]
- Aksar Is Duniya Mein Anjaane Milte Hain - This song was adapted from the song "Atshani" by the Lebanese singer Najwa Karam.[6]
