Trivia

    Album

  • This was producer Yash Johar's first Hindi film. He launched the Dharma Productions banner with this film.
  • Yash Johar's son Karan Johar named his 2008 film after this film. Both films dealt with love triangles.[1][2]
  • This film was remade in Tamil as "Sattam" (1983), starring Kamal Haasan, Sarath Babu and Madhavi.
  • This film was a few years in the making. Producer Yash Johar, who had previously worked in the Navketan unit, had initially wanted the film to be directed by Vijay Anand. However, Anand could not commit to dates, and Johar decided to go with another old hand from Navketan, Raj Khosla. The film was initially supposed to feature Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna and Zeenat Aman in a love triangle. When Raj Khosla came on board, he replaced Khanna with Shatrughan Sinha. According to Khosla, Vinod Khanna's good looks would have made it difficult to sell the love triangle![3]
  • This was cinematographer Nariman Irani's last released Hindi film. He passed away in 1977 when the film was still in production. The film's opening credits for cinematography read "Late Nariman Irani W.I.C.A. and his colleagues".

    Song

  • Dillagi Ne Di Hawa - The line "aankhon ka tha kasoor chhuri dil pe chal gayi" in the song's second antara was from a ghazal by Jaleel Manikpuri.
