Trivia

    Album

  • This was writer Raaj Shandilya's directorial debut.
  • The film featured references to Hema Malini whose nickname gave the film its title.

    Song

  • Dhagaala Laagali Kala - This was a recreated version of the Marathi film song "Var Dhagala Lagali Kal" ("Bot Lavin Tithe Gudgulya", 1979). The original song was composed by Raamlaxman, written by Dada Kondke, and sung by Mahendra Kapoor and Usha Mangeshkar. The recreated version was filmed on Ayushmann Khurrana and Nushrat Bharucha, the lead actors, and Riteish Deshmukh, who made a cameo appearance in the film for it. Saregama, the label that published the music of "Bot Lavin Tithe Gudgulya" (1979), filed a case of copyright infringement against the makers of this film. The Delhi High Court ruled in their favour and ordered the removal of the recreated song from the film and its music release.[1][2]
