Trivia

    Album

  • This film was inspired by the American film "The Whole Town's Talking" (1935) which in turn was based on the story "Jail Breaker" by W.R. Burnett.
  • Juhi Chawla wasn't very keen on doing this film. Shah Rukh Khan convinced her to take up the film when they were working together on "Yes Boss" (1997).[1]
  • Juhi Chawla's mother, Mona Kapoor, had accompanied her to Prague for the shooting of this film. A few days into the shooting, she was involved in a freak accident and died. The shooting had to be cancelled and the film was delayed. Producer Yash Johar ran into financial difficulties because of the delay and Shah Rukh Khan helped him out by reducing his fee for the film.[2]
  • In a 1998 interview, Karan Johar had expressed disappointment about how this film was made. Although Karan was not involved in this film, produced by his father, Yash Johar, he had said that director Mahesh Bhatt had not taken any interest in the film. According to him, the film wouldn't have been completed if Shah Rukh Khan hadn't taken charge of it.[3]

    Song

  • Ladna Jhagadna - The tune of this song was adapted from the nursery rhyme "A Tisket A Tasket", best remembered for the version recorded by Ella Fitzgerald in 1938. The tune was also used by Salil Chowdhury for the song "Bachpan O Bachpan Pyare Bachpan" ("Mem Didi", 1961). "A Tisket A Tasket" may have also inspired the Hindi film songs "Beech Bajariya Paaon Pakad Kar" ("Madmast", 1953) and "Kaun Hoon Main Kya Naam Hai Mera" ("Dard Ka Rishta", 1983).[4][5][6][7]
  • Ek Shararat Hone Ko Hai - This song was an adaptation of Laura Allan's "Slip & Slide".[8]
