    Album

  • The film was adapted from the Belgian film "Iedereen Beroemd!" (2000) (English: "Everybody's Famous!") written, produced, and directed by Dominique Deruddere. The Belgian film was nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 73rd Academy Awards.
  • Vashu Bhagnani's Pooja Entertainment filed a case against the makers of the film and asked for a stay on its release. They claimed that Prernaa Arora's KriArj Entertainment had sold them the all-India distribution rights for this film and "Batti Gul Meter Chalu" (2018). Pooja Entertainment also issued a public notice asking distributors and theatre owners to not release the two films without their permission. T-Series rejected Pooja Entertainment's claims and said that KriArj did not have the legal standing to assign the film's distribution rights to anyone without their agreement. They asked Pooja Entertainment to submit to them their agreement with KriArj but did not get any response for it. T-Series then filed a countersuit against Pooja Entertainment for interfering with the release of the two films. The Delhi High Court took cognisance of the matter and asked Pooja Entertainment to not make any claims on the films till the outstanding lawsuits were closed. After a protracted legal battle, Pooja Entertainment's claims on the two films were dismissed. Vashu Bhagnani had locked horns with Prernaa Arora previously over "Pad Man" (2017). KriArj Entertainment also had a run-in with director Abhishek Kapoor over "Kedarnath" (2018) and with John Abraham over "Parmanu" (2018). Bhagnani continued to pursue a case of cheating against Arora after this. She was arrested but was released on bail when she promised to pay off her debts. A few months after she was granted bail, the Bombay High Court convicted her of "aggravated" contempt of court and sentenced her to jail for 6 months.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
  • The role played by Rajkummar Rao in the film was originally offered to R. Madhavan. It was reported that Madhavan had opted out due to scheduling issues. However, there were speculations that the actor was dropped since he had demanded a high fee.[11][12]
  • This was the first film of writer, director Atul Manjrekar and actress Pihu Sand.

  • Jawan Hai Mohabbat Samajh Lo Ishara - The tune and lyrics of the song's hook line may have been inspired by a song from the film "Anmol Ghadi" (1946). The original song was sung by Naushad, written by Tanveer Naqvi, and sung by Noor Jehan.[13]
  • Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor Hai - The hook line of this song was adapted from a popular qawwali by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. However, he was not given credit for it.[14]
  • Tere Jaisa Tu Hai - The film featured another version of this song. Sung by Sneha Shankar, this version was used in the film's end credits but was not part of the audio release.
  • Badan Pe Sitaare Lapete Hue - This was a cover version of a song from the film "Prince" (1969). The original song was composed by Shankar - Jaikishan, written by Hasrat Jaipuri, and sung by Mohammed Rafi. Sonu Nigam agreed to sing the cover version after Anil Kapoor requested him to. Nigam said that he had sung many Rafi covers in the past but didn't "like to tamper with the original songs anymore". One of the things he liked about the song was that it was filmed on Anil Kapoor who played a die-hard Mohammed Rafi fan. The cover song, whose lyrics were slightly different from the original, was released on Rafi's death anniversary. While the film's album was released by T-Series, this song was released by Saregama as a single.[15][16]
