Trivia

    Album

  • This was the first Hindi film in which A.R. Rahman shared credit with another music director. He composed only one song for this film - a qawwali. Anu Malik, who composed the rest of the songs in the film, was not happy to share credits with another composer and had said that he could have composed as good a song as Rahman had.[1]
  • This was the directorial debut of the writer and film critic Khalid Mohamed.
  • "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" (2000) was Hrithik Roshan's first release but this was the first film he had signed. Its release was delayed since Rakesh Roshan had wanted "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai" to be Hrithik's debut.[2][3]
  • It was cinematographer Santosh Sivan who encouraged Khalid Mohamed to consider directing his own script. After getting the lead actors, Karishma Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Jaya Bachchan, on board, Khalid Mohamed approached his boss at the time, Pradeep Guha. Khalid Mohamed was the editor of the Filmfare magazine then and reported to Guha who was the President of The Times of India group. Guha liked the script so much that he decided to finance the film. It was his first film as a producer.[4]

    Song

  • Aankh Milaoongi - The Opening couplet (Badtameezi Pe Hum Aa Gaye .... ) was taken from a song written by Rajinder Krishan in Allah Rakha, which was also composed by Anu Malik.
  • Mere Watan - This was the debut Hindi film song of singer Zubeen Garg.
  • Tu Fiza Hai - The tune of this song's mukhda was used in three other Anu Malik songs - in the second interlude of "Aa Zara Mere Hamnasheen" ("Poonam", 1983), in the chorus in the prelude of "Aap Ka Chehra Aap Ka Jalwa" ("Tahalka", 1992) and for the saxophone solo in the interlude of "Kitaben Bahut Si Padhi Hogi Tumne" ("Baazigar", 1993).[5][6][7]
