Trivia

    Album

  • The film was based on writer-director Sailajanand Mukherjee's story for the Bengali film "Mane Na Mana" (1945). The same story was also used in the Kannada film "Chinnada Gombe" (1964) and the Tamil film "Muradan Muthu" (1964), which were made simultaneously by producer, director B.R. Panthulu. While Panthulu himself played the titular role in the Kannada film, Sivaji Ganesan played the same role in the Tamil film. The story was also the basis of the Telugu film "Palleturi Chinnodu" (1974) starring N.T. Rama Rao.
  • This was Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu's first film together. They had gotten married in 1966 after a prolonged courtship. Kumar had avoided working with his to-be wife previously and even discouraged producer P. Nagi Reddy from casting her in "Ram Aur Shyam" (1967), reportedly because of their age difference of 22 years.[1][2]

    Song
