Trivia

    Album

  • The film was an uncredited adaptation of Agatha Christie's mystery novel "And Then There Were None" (1939). It was remade in Tamil as "Naalai Unathu Naal" (1984). The Marathi film "Ashach Eka Betavar" (2013) was inspired by the same novel.
  • Mehmood sang a couple of lines in his opening scene in the film - "Bhai battoor bhai battoor, tume jayenge kitna door / Chhe mahine ka rasta aaya, nadi aayi bharpoor". He had used these lines originally in the play "Chhote Nawab" written by his father Mumtaz Ali. The play was later developed into the 1961 film of the same title. R.D. Burman and Rajinder Krishan adapted these lines later for a song in the film "Padosan" (1968).[1][2][MR9]
  • Playback singer Sharda made her debut with two songs in this film.

    Song

  • Gumnaam Hai Koi Badnaam Hai Koi - This song was an uncredited adaptation of the main title theme of the Hollywood film "Charade" (1963), composed by Henry Mancini.[3]
  • Gumnaam Hai Koi Badnaam Hai Koi - The mukhda of this song was used in a song in the film "1920 London" (2016).[4]
  • Jaane Chaman Shola Badan - The tune of this song's mukhda was adapted from the popular jazz standard "Autumn Leaves" or "Les Feuilles Mortes", composed by Joseph Kosma in 1945. The original song has been covered by hundreds of artists over the years, including Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Eva Cassidy and Eric Clapton. The same tune was adapted later by Sapan Chakraborty for the Hindi film song "Tum Bhi Chalo Hum Bhi Chalen" ("Zameer", 1974) and by Anu Malik for "Is Tarah Aashiqi Ka Asar Chhod Jaoonga" ("Imtihan", 1995).[5][6][7]
  • Hum Kaale Hain Toh Kya Hua Dilwale Hain (Khayalon Mein) - Other than a few spoken lines by Mehmood and "bols" by an uncredited artist, this was a Mohammed Rafi solo.
  • Aayega Kaun Yahan - The song was issued on music records but was not used in the film.
  • Jaan Pehchan Ho - The opening of this song was used in a 2011 Heineken advertisement titled "The Date". The song was also used in the opening credits of the Hollywood comedy "Ghost World" (2001). The Hindi film "Luka Chuppi" (2019) featured a remixed version of this song in its background score.[8][9]
  • Jaan Pehchan Ho - Herman Benjamin, the song's choreographer, made a cameo appearance in the film as the club singer singing it. It was one of Laxmi Chhaya's most memorable dance performances in Hindi films. They were joined on the screen by the members of a band called Ted Lyons & His Cubs, who appeared in several Hindi film songs in the 1960s. The band was founded by the drummer Terence "Ted" Lyons, the son of an Irish man and Arab woman who had settled down in Bombay. In the group of three guitarists seen in this song, Lyons was the one in the centre. His sister Edwina also appeared in many Hindi films as a dancer. "Dekho Ab To Kisko Nahin Hai Khabar" ("Janwar", 1965) was another popular song in which the members of Ted Lyons & His Cubs performed.[10][11]
