Trivia

    Album

  • The film was followed by a sequel titled "Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi" (2018) with many of the same cast and crew members including writer, director Mudassar Aziz, actors Diana Penty, Ali Fazal, Jimmy Shergill, and Piyush Mishra, and music director Sohail Sen.[1]
  • This was the first film that Anand L. Rai produced but did not direct. He had debuted as a producer earlier with the film "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" (2015) which he also directed. While he launched this film first, another of his productions - "Nil Battey Sannata" (2016) - was released earlier.[2][3]
  • The film was titled "Dolly Lahore Mein" earlier. The title was changed when the name of Diana Penty's character was changed from Dolly to Happy.[4]
  • The film featured the Pakistani actor Jawed Sheikh. When the makers of the film offered the role to him, they asked for his help in identifying a Pakistani actress to play Abhay Deol's love interest. The actresses suggested by Sheikh did not work for the filmmakers. They eventually ended up choosing Sheikh's daughter Momal for the role. In an interview, the actress said that the filmmakers had identified her independently since her father never recommended his children for film roles. This was her debut Hindi film.[5]
