- The film was a remake of a 1983 film of the same title. The original film was written and directed by Subhash Ghai. While the original was Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Sheshadri's breakout film, this film launched Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, the children of actors Aditya Pancholi and Suniel Shetty. The film also featured Aditya Pancholi in a key role. The original film had previously been remade in Telugu as "Vikram" (1986) starring Nagarjuna, and in Kannada as "Ranadheera" (1988) starring Ravichandran.[1]
