Trivia

    Album

  • The film was based on the book "Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had" (2005). The book was an autobiography of Brad Cohen and was co-authored by Lisa Wysocky. It had previously been adapted for a TV movie of the same title in 2008.
  • The script for the film was written in 2013. Writer, director Siddharth P. Malhotra pitched it to several producers over the next few years but could not find any takers. He eventually managed to get Yash Raj Films (YRF) on board. The original script had a male protagonist. It was Maneesh Sharma of YRF who suggested that the film should have a female lead. They signed an actress to play the lead role but could not get dates from her for a year. It was only then that they approached Rani Mukerji, who readily signed up for the film. She revealed later that her husband Aditya Chopra had encouraged her to return to acting after her daughter turned four months old. This became her comeback film after "Mardaani" (2014).[1][2][3][4]
  • Real-life couple Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar played the parents of Rani Mukerji's character in the film.
  • This was Jasleen Royal's first full-fledged Hindi film soundtrack. She had previously composed singles or worked in multi-composer films.
