• This was the second film in producer Sajid Nadiadwala's "Housefull" comedy franchise. While the films in the series had unconnected plots, all of them had large ensemble casts with two lead actors in common - Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.[1][2][3]
• The film's premise was inspired by the Malayalam film "Mattupetti Machan" (1998) which was remade in Tamil as "Banda Paramasivam" (2003) and in Telugu as "Hungama" (2005).
• Brothers Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor had worked in a few films together prior to this, but this was the only film in which they had significant screen time together. Their characters in the film were half-brothers and were named after their nicknames. Randhir's character was named Daboo Kapoor and Rishi's character was called Chintu Kapoor.
• Akshay Kumar's character in this film was modelled after the roles played by actor Ranjeet in his heydays. Ranjeet, who played his father in the film, helped Akshay get his mannerisms and dialogue delivery right.[4]
• Director Sajid Khan and actress Jacqueline Fernandez started dating during the making of this film. They broke up in 2013.[5]
• Actresses Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez, who played the daughters of characters played by Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor, were named Henna and Bobby - a reference to films produced by Raj Kapoor in which Rishi and Randhir were involved - "Bobby" (1973) and "Henna" (1991).[6][7]

• राइट नाउ नाउ - This song may have been inspired by Akon's "Right Now (Na Na Na)" (2008).[8]
• डू यू नो - Singer Abhijeet filed a case against the makers of this film alleging plagiarism. He claimed that Sajid - Wajid had taken a musical piece from his non-film song "Mujhe Kanhaiya Kaha Karo" ("Tere Bina", 2003) and used it for the guitar riff in this song. Sajid - Wajid rejected the allegation and announced that they would take legal action against Abhijeet for making the false claim. It is another matter that the music for "Tere Bina" (2003) was credited to Saptarishi, not Abhijeet as claimed by him.[9][10][11]
