Trivia

    Album

  • The title of this film was inspired by a line made famous by Asrani's character in "Sholay" (1975). Asrani also played the lead, triple role in the film. This was the last of Asrani's attempts as a director to re-brand himself as a lead actor. It was his only film as a producer. He made a comeback as a director in the 1990s with two films - "Dil Hi To Hai" (1993) and "Udaan" (1996).[1][2][3]
  • This film was a long time in the making. Its audio records were issued in 1979 but the film was certified and released in 1980.
  • This film was set in 1965. The following disclaimer was provided in the film's opening - "This story is set in the period when general insurance companies were not nationalised and hundreds of conmen cheated such companies. To exercise stronger controls the government of India nationalised all general insurance companies through the General Insurance Business (Nationalisation) Act, 1972. This film is a total fantasy inspired by a real incident in Allahabad, in the sixties, when three conmen cheated a private general insurance company in connivance with its staff."
