Trivia

    Album

  • The release of this film was surrounded by the controversy over the legal case against its key cast members - Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu - for killing two blackbucks. It was during a break in the shooting of this film in Jodhpur that these actors had gone on a hunting expedition and allegedly killed the endangered animals. As of 2019, Salman Khan was out on bail after having been convicted and sentenced to 5 years in jail under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act.[1]
  • This was Salman Khan's third film for Rajshri Productions and director Sooraj Barjatya after "Maine Pyar Kiya" (1989) and "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" (1994). Khan and Barjatya's relationship became strained over the infamous blackbuck case and the two didn't work together again for another fifteen years. Their next film together was "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (2015).[2][3][4][5]
  • Madhuri Dixit and Raveena Tandon were originally offered the roles in this film which went to Tabu and Sonali Bendre respectively when declined by them.
  • The 7 song compositions used in this film were chosen from a collection of 27 tunes Raamlaxman had composed.[6]
  • Raamlaxman did not approach Lata Mangeshkar for this film since all songs in it required multiple singers and therefore did not justify a singer of her stature.

    Song

  • ABCDEFGHI I Love You - The tune of this song was plagiarised from the Spanish song "Porque Te Vas" by Jeanette. The song was released in 1974 and gained international popularity when it was included in the award-winning film "Cria Cuervos" (1976).[7]
  • Sunoji Dulhan Ek Baat Sunoji - This was a medley of songs based on the tunes of other Hindi film songs. These included two songs composed by Raamlaxman in Sooraj Barjatya's previous film, "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" (1994) - "Didi Tera Devar Deewana" and "Maye Ni Maye".[8]
