Trivia

    Album

  • Critics and filmgoers received the news of Saif Ali Khan's National Film Award (NFA) for Best Actor for this film with disbelief. It was alleged that the influence of Sharmila Tagore, Saif's mother and the chairperson of the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC) at the time, helped Saif win the award. Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra, who headed the NFA jury, defended Saif's award by saying "His acting is better and has improved a lot."[1]
  • The film featured an abridged, recreated version of a hit song from Rishi Kapoor's debut film, "Bobby" (1973). Like the original song, the recreated version was sung by Shailendra Singh and filmed on Rishi Kapoor. This version also had Shaan singing for Saif Ali Khan. It was only featured in the film and was not part of the audio release.[2]

    Song

  • Ladki Kyon - This song was plagiarised from the song "Roya" by the Armenian-Iranian singer Andranik Madadian, better known by his stage name Andy.[3]
  • Hum Tum - The saxophone solo in the first interlude of this song was a reproduction of a saxophone solo used by R.D. Burman in the Hindi film song "Chahe Raho Dur Chahe Raho Paas" ("Do Chor", 1972).[4]
  • Yaara Yaara - Although part of the audio release, this song was not featured in the film. Jatin - Lalit reused this composition for their next film with director Kunal Kohli under the Yash Raj banner, "Chanda Chamke" ("Fanaa", 2006). The tune of this song was adapted from the song "El Samra Wa Betha" by Miami Band.[5]
