Trivia

    Album

  • This film was a remake of the Bengali film "Udayer Pathey" (1944) and was Bimal Roy's debut as director. He had co-written the script for the original film and was the script writer of the Hindi version.
  • While the film "Naya Zamana" (1971) was based on Gulshan Nanda's Hindi novel of the same title, its storyline bore some resemblance with that of this film.[1]

    Song

  • Jana Gana Mana Adhinayak Jay Hey - This was the first time "Jana Gana Mana" was used in a Hindi film. This was prior to Jana Gana Mana becoming India's national anthem.
  • Madhu Gandhe Bhara - This song was originally composed and written by Rabindranath Tagore. It was later adapted by Anil Biswas for the Hindi film song "Mere Chanchal Naina Madhu Ras" ("Angulimaal", 1960).[2]
