• There were speculations that the film was inspired by the real-life events that led to the arrest of Yasin Bhatkal, the founder of the terrorist organisation Indian Mujahideen. When asked about it, director Raj Kumar Gupta confirmed that the film was "inspired by a true event" but declined to provide specifics.[1]
• The reference to Bhagavad Gita and Quran in a scene was removed based on the recommendation of CBFC.[2]
• Yasin Bhatkal, on whom the film's antagonist was said to be based, used to use Shah Rukh Khan as an alias. It was reported that this was the reason the Hindi film superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained by security on more than one occasion during his international travels. There was a reference to this in the film's epilogue.[3]
