Trivia

    Album

  • This was Kishore Kumar's first Hindi film as a music director, lyricist, and writer. Prior to this film, he had tried his hand at composing music for two Phani Majumdar films, "Neela Aasman" and "Suhana Geet". However, these films were shelved and he had to wait till 1961 to debut as a composer.[MR10]
  • This was the first film release that saw Madhubala and Kishore Kumar paired together on the screen after their wedding in 1960. Interestingly, Kishore Kumar's brother Anoop and Madhubala's sister Chanchal were also paired together in the film. This was a rare case of two pairs of siblings being paired together in a film.

    Song

  • Main Hoon Jhum Jhum Jhum Jhum Jhumroo - Kishore Kumar's yodelling in this song had a precursor in another Hindi film song sung by him a few years earlier, "Yeh Sama Hum Tum Jawan" ("Mashuqa", 1953).[1]
  • Ae Baba Lu Baba Lu Ba Ba (Jaane De Jaane De) - This song was an adaptation of the number one song on the pop charts of 1958 - the instrumental track "Tequila" performed by The Champs. Two other Hindi film songs have been inspired by this tune - the first line of "Mere Sapno Ki Rani" ("Aradhana", 1969) and "Aa Pappiyan Jhappiyan Paa Len Hum" ("Haqeeqat", 1995).[2][3][4][MR10]
  • Koi Humdam Na Raha Koi Sahara Naa Raha - The tune and lyrics of the song's mukhda were taken directly from a song composed by Saraswati Devi, written by Jamuna Swarup Kashyap, and sung by Kishore Kumar's elder brother Ashok Kumar for the film "Jeevan Naiya" (1936).[5]
  • Thandi Hawa Yeh Chandni Suhani - The tune of the song's mukhda was inspired by the song "Domani" (1956) by the American artist Julius La Rosa.[6]
  • Ae Bhola Bhaala Mann Mera - Kishore Kumar's yodelling in the opening of this song was very similar to the one in the film's title song.
  • Koi Albela Mastana - This duet was recorded for the film but not used in it. The song was released on 78 rpm records initially but seems to have been dropped from subsequent releases of the film's music album.
