Trivia

    Album

  • The film's initial title "Mental Hai Kya" drew criticism from mental health professionals who claimed that it trivialised a serious health condition. The Indian Psychiatric Society wrote a letter to the CBFC objecting to the title. Based on the board's recommendation, the film's title was changed and the usage of the word 'mental' was muted in it. The film "Yeh Saali Aashiqui" (2019) also had to change its title from "Paagal" for similar reasons.[1][2]
  • The film got embroiled in a controversy when actress Kangana Ranaut got into a spat with a journalist during a song launch event. The two had a heated exchange after Ranaut accused the journalist of running a smear campaign against her. After the event, the Entertainment Journalists' Guild of India wrote a letter to producer Ekta Kapoor and announced that they would be boycotting the actress till she apologised. They also asked the producer to condemn Ranaut's behaviour at the event. Ekta Kapoor responded to the letter with a public statement in which she apologised for the "untoward incident".[3][4][5]
  • This was the first Hindi film of director Prakash Kovelamudi. He had worked primarily in Telugu films before this. Kovelamudi collaborated with his ex-wife, writer Kanika Dhillon, for this film. The couple had gotten married in 2014 and separated in 2017 before work on the film started.[6]

    Song

  • The Wakhra Song (Wakhra Swag Ni) - This was a recreated version of the Punjabi non-film song "Wakhra Swag". The original song was produced by Badshah, composed and written by Navi Kamboz, and sung by Navv Inder.[7]
  • Tauba Tauba Kya Hoga - This was a cover version of a song from the film "Mr. Natwarlal" (1979). The original song was composed by Rajesh Roshan, written by Anand Bakshi, and sung by Asha Bhosle. This was an abbreviated song and was part of the film's background score. While the rest of the film's soundtrack was published by Zee Music Company, the recreated song was released separately as a single by Saregama.[8]
