Trivia

    Album

  • Originally titled "Mr. Hitler", filmmaker Subodh Mukerji had launched this film with Dev Anand. When Dev Anand reneged on his promise to work on the film and took up Nasir Husain's "Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai" (1961) instead, Mukerji offered the role to Shammi Kapoor. Kapoor accepted the role but wanted the title changed. Interestingly, the lead role in "Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai" (1961) went to Dev Anand only because Nasir Husain and Shammi Kapoor had a falling out.[1][MR15]
  • After the huge success of this film, Shammi Kapoor asked for a big hike when Subodh Mukerji offered him his next production. Mukerji declined his demand and Shammi Kapoor never worked for the filmmaker again.[MR15]
  • This was actress Saira Banu's debut Hindi film.
  • The film was remade in Telugu as "Sarada Ramudu" (1980) starring N.T. Rama Rao.
  • Manohari Singh played the saxophone in the theme music used in the film's opening credits.[2]

    Song

  • Ehsaan Tera Hoga Mujh Par (Female) - The film was originally supposed to have only the male version of this song, sung by Mohammed Rafi. Subodh Mukerji later decided to add a female version and Lata Mangeshkar used Rafi's version as the dummy track to record her version of the song.[MR7]
  • Aai Aai Ya Sukoo Sukoo - Shankar - Jaikishan reused the tune of the accordion solo in this song's interlude for a vocalisation featured in the song "Ek Din Bik Jayega Maati Ke Mol" ("Dharam Karam", 1975).[3]
  • Aai Aai Ya Sukoo Sukoo - The tune of this song was adapted from a song originally written and recorded by Tarateno Rojas in 1959. The original song took off in 1961-62 when it was covered by Laurie Johnson and his orchestra for the theme music of the TV show "Top Secret".[4]
  • Yahoo! Chaahe Koi Mujhe Junglee Kahe - The "Yahoo" scream in this song was rendered by Prayag Raj and not by Mohammed Rafi or Shammi Kapoor as popularly believed. The idea of "Yahoo" itself was Shammi Kapoor's, who had used it earlier in "Tumsa Nahin Dekha" (1957) and "Dil Deke Dekho" (1959). Shankar - Jaikishan had initially planned on using Shammi Kapoor's voice for the scream but when he couldn't pull it off, they brought in Prayag Raj, whom they had used before as a chorus singer.[5][6]
