  • This film was based on a Bengali short story of the same title written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1892. The film was released in 1961, Tagore's birth centenary year, and opened with a dedication - a sketch of Tagore and the message "Our homage to Gurudev".

    Song

  • Ganga Aaye Kahaan Se - This 1961 song is Salil Chowdhury's adaptation of his own Bengali film song "Ganga Amay Dubaili Re" ("Ganga", 1960). While the Bengali song was sung by Manna Dey, Salil Chowdhury used Hemant Kumar's voice for the Hindi version.[MR10]
