Trivia

    Album

  • According to the opening credits, the film was "based on a story idea by Anand Pal". However, the film's story was clearly adapted from A.J. Cronin's 1950 novel "Beyond This Place". The Bengali film "Sabar Uparey" (1955) was also based on the same novel.

    Song

  • Najar Laagi Raja Tore Bangle Par - Music director Abhishek Ray recorded a cover version of this song for the film "Saat Uchakkey" (2016).[1]
  • Hum Bekhudi Mein Tumko Pukare Chale Gaye - S.D. Burman had used the tune of this song previously for his Bengali non-film song "Ghum Bhulechhi Nijhum Ey Nishithe". According to film journalist Raju Bharatan, Burman had developed the tune from a prayer song he had heard his assistant Jaidev hum - "Aal-E-Rusool Mein Jo Mussalman Ho Gaye". Interestingly, S.D. Burman's son R.D. Burman had played the sarod in the prelude of "Ghum Bhulechhi Nijhum Ey Nishithe".[2][MR4]
  • Dil Laga Ke Kadar Gayi Pyare - This was an Asha Bhosle solo with 'bols' rendered by S.D. Burman.
  • Achha Ji Main Haari Chalo Maan Jao Na - Manohari Singh, an aspiring sessions musician at the time, asked his friend Laxmikant Kudalkar to help him find some work in the film industry. Kudalkar, who used to play the mandolin for S.D. Burman, asked Singh to bring the mandolin to the studio the next day. The two of them ended up playing the mandolins in this song together. This was Manohari Singh's first performance in a Hindi film song. Kudalkar went on to become a part of the famous Laxmikant - Pyarelal music director duo and Singh became a prominent sessions musician and an important member of R.D. Burman's team.[3]
