Album

• Producer Karan Johar revealed during the film's promotion that it was conceived by his father Yash Johar in 2003 based on a story idea he had shared with him. The film was in its pre-production stage when the senior Johar died of a chest infection in 2004. The film was shelved then only to be revived when director Abhishek Varman heard the story from Karan Johar and expressed an interest in developing it.[1]
• Sridevi had been signed for a key role in the film. However, she died in a drowning accident before the film went on the floors and was replaced by Madhuri Dixit.[2]
• This was Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt's first film together in 22 years. They had appeared together in "Mahaanta" (1997) before this.[3]
• Pritam used the voice of Shreya Ghoshal in this film after a gap of seven years. He had decided to avoid senior singers for his songs after "Agent Vinod" (2012). Shreya Ghoshal had been unhappy that multiple versions of "Raabta" ("Agent Vinod", 2012) were recorded without her knowledge and that the version she sang for was not used in the film. According to Pritam, the decision to drop Shreya's version had not been his. He hinted that this call had been made by the music label T-Series.[4][5]

Song

• Tabaah Ho Gaye - This was Saroj Khan's last Hindi film song as a choreographer. She died of a cardiac arrest in July 2020. Khan, who choreographed Madhuri Dixit in this song, had also helped the actress with her breakthrough dance performance in "Ek Do Teen Char" ("Tezaab", 1988).[6][7]
• Saiyan Mera Aira Gaira Natthu Khaira - Kriti Sanon made a cameo appearance in the film for this song.
